Effective Home Remedies for Oily Skin

Posted by Unknown at 00:44

Oily skin can be hereditary. Skin starts to become oily usually before or after menstrual periods, at menopause, and during pregnancy. This is also a common skin problem that occurs during the teenage years and early 20’s when girls and boys changes in hormone levels. People who have oily skin tend to have thick and large pores. Other causes of oily skin are stress, using the wrong skin care products, wrong diet, side effects of medication, and season changes.

Excess accumulation of oil on the outer layer of your skin often leads to blackheads, blind pimples, whiteheads, acne, and other skin problems.

Getting rid of the unwanted shine on your face can be challenging, but there are home remedies that can help lessen, if not eliminate, oily skin. You don’t need to spend for chemical-based and costly skin care products. Below are home remedies for oily skin.

1. Lemon Juice

The citric acid found in lemon juice is an effective astringent. Lemon juice can also restore your skin’s pH balance and lighten discolorations because it contains antiseptic properties.
You will need 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice and ½ teaspoon of distilled water. Mix them and apply it on your face using a cotton ball. To prevent your skin from drying out, leave the mixture on your skin for only 10 minutes. Then, rinse your face with warm water.

2. Egg Whites

Using egg whites on your face tightens your skin’s pores, dries out blemishes, and makes your skin firmer. Egg whites are high in vitamin A, which makes them an ideal ingredient in achieving beautiful skin.
Spread whipped egg white onto your face. Once it’s dry, wash it off with warm water. You can also mix it with lemon juice for a more effective mixture.

3. Apples

The soothing and antiseptic properties of apples make them a great remedy for greasy skin. It is also a great exfoliating agent and astringent. Apples contain malic acid, which aids in removing dead skin cells. It also absorbs unwanted oil, making your skin look more natural.
You will need half an apple. Grate it and place the shreds on your face, leaving it on for 15 minutes. Rinse with tepid water.
